About

Microsoft Certified ProfessionalI’m a software developer for Renascent Design and also work in Production Engineering at Focus on the Family.  I love playing my guitar, writing music, leading worship, and spending time in worship.  As a programmer, I develop web applications under the .NET framework.

I attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE in 1999.  My studies consisted of a combination of Management with an emphasis in Information Systems and Computer Science courses.  Topics of study were programming theory, problem solving in C, C++, and Java, database organization, enterprise systems and numerous web-based technologies.  As part of my extracurricular activities, I was involved in SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise).  I created visual presentations for business competitions with Director and Macromedia Flash.  I have also experimented with creating 3D animations with 3D Studio Max and recorded video for presentations.  For the academic year of 2001 to 2002, I led the SIFE team at UNL as president.  That year I also traveled to Albania to work with college students in working with their SIFE team. I also directed and taught a kids camp called Kids Invent Toys as a SIFE project.  Toward the end of the academics year, I led the UNL SIFE team to regional competition in Chicago, IL and then to national competition in Kansas City, KS. The following year I assisted in training/coaching the team to regional competition in Miami, FL and then national competition in Kansas City, KS.

During my college years, I also worked for the College of Business at UNL as a part time student.  I started in June of 2000 as the college’s webmaster.  In 2004, I started taking more freelance projects and been involved behind a business entity, Renascent Design, since 2006.  Also, in 2006, I went full-time as a Software Development Associate for the College of Business and later promoted as Software Development Specialist until April 2009 when I decided to pursue other opportunities.  Most of my responsibilities were developing into the infrastructure for implementing web solutions for colleges and departments at UNL.  I spent much of my development for the e-commerce at the college and was involved in maintaining security under the PCI compliance and generating reports for activity under the college’s merchant account.

My passion for music and worship led me to get more involved in a campus ministry and worked as a volunteer worship coordinator for the University Lutheran Chapel from 2004 to 2009.  I’ve been involved in the International Worship Institute since 2003 and a small mentors group called “t2″. I also had the opportunity to lead worship at Club Vertical Cafe at the International Worship Institute in 2008.

My experience in programming has been primary in the .NET framework and C#.  But, I have also considerable experience with PHP.  As a software developer for the College of Business, much of my initiatives were developing more team-oriented development, study different methodologies in development and improving the way we approach writing our code. In the area of security, I completed SANS Institute coursework in defending web applications. In 2009, I received my Microsoft Certified Professional certification. I am currently working toward the Technical Specialist and Professional Developer certifications through Microsoft’s certification program.  I’ve been also studying LINQ, WCF, WPF/Silverlight in using their technologies in building not only better web applications, but applying this technology in other new areas of application.

Today, I live in Colorado Springs, CO. I work for Focus on the Family in Production Engineering. I’ve been learning about database administration, release management, performance tweaking and troubleshooting for enterprise/web applications for the ministry. I’m also attending the New Life School of Worship part-time and getting involved in worship at New Life Church.
